How do I calculate my Body Mass Index?

What is BMI?

The BMI formula was developed by Belgium statistician Adolphe Quelet (1796-1874) and was known as the Quetelet Index. The formula is a statistical measurement which compares a person's weight and height.

Although not precisely accurate, knowing your body mass index can be useful in identifying whether you are underweight, overweight or obese when compared against the general population. Your BMI score should only be used as a reference and it is not intended to replace professional medical advice. Always seek the advice of your doctor prior to commencing any changes in your eating or dieting habits.
